The laboratory on Prof. Massimo Santoro at the Veneto Institute for Molecular Medicine (VIMM) is seeking post-doctoral fellows to study the role of redox homeostasis and metabolism in tumor growth and spreading (Panieri and Santoro, CDD, 2016). Our team has recently identified a novel metabolic enzyme that is crucial for redox homeostasis and ferroptosis (Santoro, Cell Metabolism, 2020; Mugoni et al., Cell 2013, Mugoni et al., Nature Protocols, 2013). Using mouse genetic approaches as well as advanced molecular and microscopic techniques we want to elucidate how redox signaling and metabolism regulate breast and melanoma survival and progression. Our laboratory has acquired a strong experience in biochemistry, genetics, molecular and cellular biology of endothelial and cancer cells and animal models. Animal facilities, advanced stereo/confocal/light sheet microscopy equipment, advanced gene-editing techniques, and metabolic core facilities are all available in the laboratory and department to achieve the project successfully. Such studies offer unique opportunities for designing new therapeutic strategies against metastasis and cancer spreading of these tumors.

The candidate must be a highly motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline as well as having some experience in genetic, molecular, and/or cellular biology methods. The applicant must have a good publication record in peer-reviewed international journals (including at least one paper as a first author in top-journal) and must be capable of working in a team as well as independently. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English are required.

We offer a dynamic work environment in stimulating scientific surroundings with a young, enthusiastic, motivated team along with the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects. We offer a strong competitive salary (European Marie Curie Fellow range) as well as contributions to health and retirement funds.
