There was great anticipation for the 25th edition of the Padova Marathon, which once again offered participants and supporters the opportunity to back local non-profit organizations through the charity program organized in collaboration with Rete del Dono.
VIMM could not miss the occasion and relaunched its traditional “Run4Research” campaign, inviting everyone to take part by purchasing a race bib, the official t-shirt, or simply making a donation — and then enjoying a day of sport and solidarity together.
The funds collected through the “Run4Research” campaign will support further exploration of recent VIMM studies on the mechanisms that enable brown bears to maintain their muscle mass during hibernation — a discovery that could pave the way for new and effective therapies against muscle atrophy and loss of muscle mass, promoting healthy and active aging.
“Sport and scientific research share the same values of dedication, inclusion, and a strong commitment to health and well-being,” emphasized Giustina Destro, President of the Fondazione per la Ricerca Biomedica Avanzata. “Running for VIMM means running toward a future where, thanks to research, we will have access to more innovative and effective treatments for currently incurable diseases.”
Beyond online donors, the appeal launched by the Fondazione Ricerca Biomedica Avanzata was enthusiastically embraced by over 100 solidarity runners — including students, professionals, and companies — joined by an exceptional partner: Fiamme Oro Padova, a historic pillar of Italian athletics. On April 27, during the Padova Marathon, they renewed their partnership and long-standing bond with VIMM.
Special ambassador of the event was Yassin Bandaogo, Italian indoor 60-meter champion and Fiamme Oro athlete. “Running for research gives a deeper meaning to my passion for sport,” he said. “Every time I run, I feel connected to something that can truly make a difference in people’s lives — whether it’s helping someone recover from an injury or improving overall health. It’s rewarding to know that my passion can contribute to something greater.”
