Construction work begins on the new headquarters in Via Giuseppe Orus, which will host the VIMM laboratories.

A Framework Agreement is signed with the two statutory partners, the University of Padua and the Padua University Hospital, for the development of biomedical research.

On October 16, 2000, the Veneto Institute of Molecular Medicine (VIMM) is inaugurated at Via Orus 2 in Padua.

The Fioretti Manzin Award is established to honor the Institute’s best young researchers.

Gilberto Muraro becomes President of the Advanced Biomedical Research Foundation. He will hold the position until 2017.

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory is named after Lucia Valentina Terrani, the renowned opera singer from Padua who passed away from severe leukemia.

The Scientific Advisory Board, composed of international experts, convenes.

A collaboration agreement is signed with the Padova Neuroscience Center (PNC), led by Prof. Corbetta, who moves its laboratories to VIMM.
