A different kind of Carnival celebration, dedicated to supporting scientific research and the work of the Veneto Institute of Molecular Medicine (VIMM): this was the event organized last February by the Lions Club Piove di Sacco, an organization that has been consistently supporting VIMM and its activities for many years.
It was an inspiring evening of dialogue and mutual exchange, marked by openness, collaboration, and the constructive sharing of knowledge.
The event began with a welcome address by Giustina Destro, President of the Fondazione per la Ricerca Biomedica Avanzata, who thanked the Lions Club for organizing the evening, presented the Foundation’s mission and activities, and emphasized the importance of supporting biomedical research.
The floor was then given to VIMM researchers Lorenzo Pini, Roberta Frison, and Martina D’Ercole, who shared insights into their daily work — illustrating key areas of research, laboratory activities, major results achieved, and future challenges ahead.
The audience, composed of entrepreneurs, professionals, and local associations, showed great interest and engagement, demonstrating that research is never a solitary path, but rather a shared journey that advances through dialogue and support from the broader community.
The evening continued with a dinner and further opportunities for connection, culminating in the presentation of a meaningful donation in support of VIMM’s ongoing research projects.
“Occasions like this help us remember the ultimate purpose of our work: to respond to the questions of those who suffer for their loved ones and are waiting for a cure,” said President Giustina Destro.
“By supporting VIMM, we help keep hope alive for a different and better future made possible by research.”
