Advanced Microscopy

The Institute’s Advanced Microscopy Facility is a highly technological space dedicated to the observation and analysis of cellular structures and tissues—essential for understanding the biological processes underlying health and disease. All instruments are operated by highly qualified technical staff and are accessible to Institute researchers and external collaborators, fostering an open, collaborative, and innovation-driven environment.

Instrumentation

Leica DM6B

Leica DM6B is a fully motorized upright optical microscope capable of automated whole-slide acquisition.

Nikon Eclipse Ti2

Nikon Eclipse Ti2 is an advanced inverted microscopy system for live cells, offering high speed, high sensitivity, and a large field of view (FOV).

Olympus BX60

Olympus BX60 is a versatile microscope designed for both reflected-light and transmitted-light observation, providing brightfield and darkfield modes. It is equipped with Olympus objectives at 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, and 100x (the latter for oil immersion), enabling a wide range of magnifications for detailed sample analysis.

Olympus CKX

Olympus CKX is an inverted microscope that represents a significant step forward in image quality and ergonomics. It delivers stable performance and streamlined workflows for a wide range of cell-culture applications, including real-time observation, sampling and cell manipulation, image acquisition, and fluorescence observation.

Olympus IX81

Olympus IX81 is a high-performance platform featuring a FRET beam splitter. It is equipped with high-quality objectives, advanced fluorescence capabilities, and automated image acquisition.

Scientifica 2P

Scientifica 2P is a multiphoton microscope—an exceptionally effective technique for imaging structures within thick specimens. This makes it ideal for both in vitro and in vivo imaging, enabling detailed visualization deep within biological samples.

Thorlabs

Thorlabs is a powerful two-photon microscope used primarily for the study of submicron samples, especially in the field of neurobiology.

Zeiss LSM 900 with detector Airyscan 2

Zeiss LSM 900 with Airyscan 2 is an inverted confocal microscope equipped with advanced solutions to ensure top-quality live-cell confocal imaging: fast acquisition, low phototoxicity, reduced photobleaching, and a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Zeiss LSM900 upright

Zeiss LSM 900 upright is a confocal system providing high-resolution imaging.

Leica DMI6000B with NL5+ system

Leica DMI6000B with NL5+ is a motorized confocal microscope with an incubator for live-cell imaging.

Zeiss PALM Laser Capture Microdissector

The Zeiss PALM laser capture microdissector is an advanced laser microdissection technology (LMD/LCM). This contact-free, contamination-free method enables the isolation of specific single cells or entire tissue regions from a wide range of specimens. Its effectiveness is not significantly affected by tissue thickness, structure, or initial preparation.

Zeiss Lightsheet 7

Zeiss Lightsheet 7 provides high optical resolution for precise, three-dimensional imaging of biological specimens without compromising sample integrity. Its rapid acquisition and high optical resolution make it ideal for real-time, live recordings of dynamic biological processes.
