Katrin Amunts is an internationally renowned German neuroscientist, recognized for her pioneering work in brain mapping. She is currently a Professor and Director of the Cécile and Oskar Vogt Institute for Brain Research at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, and she also heads the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-1) at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Since 2023, she has served as Co-CEO of EBRAINS AISBL in Brussels. Her research focuses on developing multimodal and multilevel atlases of the human brain, such as the Julich-Brain Atlas, which integrate data across spatial and temporal scales to better understand the brain’s structural and functional organization. She has received numerous honors, including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2022 and the Hector Prize in 2021.
