Gianpietro Semenzato’s scientific activity focuses on the study of blood and immune system diseases, with particular attention to chronic leukemias and large granular lymphocyte leukemias (T-LGL). He has made decisive contributions to clarifying the molecular and immunological mechanisms that regulate the progression of these pathologies and their connection with the immune system. His studies have opened new perspectives for the development of targeted therapeutic strategies that combine expertise in hematology, immunology, and molecular biology.
Gianpietro Semenzato, hematologist, has focused his research on rare leukemias that affect lymphocytes, key cells of the immune system. In particular, he has investigated how specific genetic mutations — especially in the STAT3 and STAT5B genes — promote the development of these diseases. Thanks to his studies, new biological markers have been identified that help to better recognize these leukemias and distinguish them from other similar disorders. This work has also had a direct clinical impact, paving the way for more accurate diagnoses and for targeted therapies designed to adapt to the characteristics of each individual patient.
T-cell clones of uncertain significance. When is the rogue clone dangerous?
Not all LGL leukemias are created equal.
All that glitters is not LGL Leukemia.
