Prof. Maurizio Corbetta
Maurizio Corbetta, VIMM Principal Investigator and Professor of the University of Padua, was included in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2020”, drawn up annually. This is announced by the data analysis company Clarivate, which analyzes through bibliometric experts e scientists a very large amount of data from research conducted around the world.
The names included in the ranking are taken from publications that are placed in the 1% of best for citations by field and year of publication in Web of Science citation index™. Based on these parameters, Maurizio Corbetta – who in the period under review (2009-2019) has participated in 212 publications and was mentioned in over 40,400 studies –, was one of the 6,389 researchers included in the index.
Corbetta‘s research ranges from cognitive neuroscience to neurology, analyzing brain circuits through various brain imaging methods. The goal is understand, both in normal and pathological behavioral conditions, how different regions of the brain are activated and, exchanging information, interact. A second line of research does instead proposes to investigate the structural and functional consequences of the brain following injury focal, such as strokes and brain tumors.
